I am 89 years old. I came to Dr. He about four years ago with a lot of pain in my lower back and hips. After 5 time treatments, my pain was totally gone until I fell and broke my hip on the left side in June of 2013. I had so much pain again. I came back for acupuncture treatment from early October of 2013. I believe I came about 4 times. After one trip, I felt 90 percent relief of pain. On my third trip on October 18, 2013, I am leaving without pain. I plan to return in 2 weeks to see how everything is going. About seven years ago I developed a growing intolerance to gluten and dairy products. It got so bad that I sometimes could not even leave the house because the urge to go the bathroom was too strong. I finally realized that it was due to gluten and dairy and went on a gluten and dairy free diet. However, my inner stress was keeping me from really getting better. After 10-15 acupuncture sessions I could see an improvement. So far I have been under treatment for almost 2 years and I can now enjoy playing 18 holes of golf, see an entire movie or a theatre play and listen to music in the Symphony Hall all without interrupt. After my experience at H & Z acupuncture, I have become a strong advocate for the alternative use of acupuncture. I highly encourage young people like myself to try acupuncture before knocking the idea, as well as, before considering surgery. Last September marks a year since a car hit me while I was going into the store. Being that I was only 15 at the time my injuries took away some of the activities I have enjoyed for years, such as Saturday morning bike rides with my mom and occasionally running with my dog. After the car wreck, I discontinued the activities that I have partaken in for years. I knew something was seriously wrong when I dreaded getting out the bed in the morning due to server pain in my knee. Being that I was a sophomore in high school this put a damper on the beginning of my sophomore year. My knee was sensitive to the weather whenever it was cold outside my entire leg would experience pain. My knee also would catch as I walked up stairs or did excessive movements. Due to my complaints my mom and I decided to go to a traditional doctor for his opinion. It was my plica. He told me he would remove it surgically. My mom and I did some research learning that the surgery would not be a 100% cure and I would inevitably end up missing school terrified me. Those were the key factors that discouraged us from surgery and lead us to try acupuncture. As time went on I became open to the idea of trying something totally new to me. I have always been afraid of needles. It came as a surprise to both my mother and I that I relinquished my fear once the first needle had been placed in my finger then my knee. I realized the needle was far less than the pain I experienced from my knee. I took it like a pro and after 3 sessions I feel renewed. I had a very positive outcome at H and Z Acupuncture. I had suffered from eczema on the palm of my right hand for over three years. I was treated with corticorsteroid creams that would temporarily relieve the symptoms but the pain and itching never completely went away. At some point I had cracks in my skin that caused so much pain I couldn’t wash my hand with water. After just eight acupuncture treatments received from Dr. Wanyon Zhong my eczema is now under control. The skin has healed and I do not have the open skin, itchiness or cracked skin. I am so thankful that the acupuncture helped relieve the eczema symptoms. It is the first time in three years that I am able to do normal activities without pain, itchiness or discomfort. I will continue to receive acupuncture as needed since eczema is a chronic condition but I am so relieved to have received such great care from Dr. Zhong. I am very thankful that it relieved my symptoms and that my skin looks normal again especially significant since I didn’t think my skin would return to normal. In September 2013, I suffered a nerve injury in my shoulder that left me barely able to move my left arm at all. After months of going to multiple doctors and surgeons who told me there was nothing I could do except wait a hope it got better, I went to Dr. Zhong on the advice of my physical therapist. After a just a few treatments I noticed my arm improving. It’s now February and I have most of my mobility back and am getting better every day. Nothing short of a miracle! Dr. Zhong is professional, thorough, funny, and a real pleasure to spend time with. Most importantly her technique is virtually painless.
