Low Back Injury

After a slip and fall about 6 weeks ago resulting in intense pain, I knew immediately that I had possibly re-injured a herniated disc in my lower back which had caused pain ever since the initial injury many years before. Several trips to my chiropractor helped with my range of movement but did nothing for the pain. After muscle relaxers and serious pain killers only dulled the pain and still wouldn’t let me sleep through the night, I decided to go to a medical center for an evaluation. After several appointments, an x-ray and an MRI, it was determined by the radiologist that I had a new ‘severe’ injury resulting from a bulge in a different disc in my lower back. Based on the doctor’s recommendation, I scheduled an epidural injection. After my wife, a nurse for 30 years, and I reviewed the plan, we realized that the injection was scheduled for the old injury site, not the new one, and we began to explore other options. I had already asked my doctor about acupuncture as an option and was told she had learned of mixed results from her readings. My wife researched acupuncturists and found an article in an old magazine about Dr. He, so I called and talked to him and scheduled an appointment. I arrived for my appointment with a copy of the MRI results and after discussing my injury and symptoms with Dr He, he had me stand and bend so he could see how the pain was affecting my movement. Next I sat back in the chair and after Dr. He asked if I was afraid of needles he showed me how small they were. He inserted 2 needles in the back of my left hand and the pain was immediately improved. After again having me move to see the improvement, he put 2 more needles in the back of my right hand and the pain was soon completely gone. I now had nearly complete range of motion compared to when I had arrived. After a few minutes, the needles were removed and I got on the treatment table where Dr. He used acupressure and massage on my back and hip area. Then he inserted a number of needles down both sides of my spine and left me to relax while the needles did their magic. I began to feel very rested and calm and ...

Plantar Fasciitis

I started going to Dr. He for acupuncture after getting plantar fasciitis in both feet. It was very painful and after trying cortisone injections, physical therapy and rest for six or seven months, but getting very little relief, a coworker suggested acupuncture and recommended H&Z Acupuncture. Initially I was seeing Dr. He once a week for the treatment of the plantar fasciitis. It was amazing to me that I could have pain before the treatment and then no pain after the treatment. It took several months of treatment but the pain finally went away. I still go to acupuncture once a month for whole body balancing and stress reduction. I feel very relaxed after having acupuncture and I believe it keeps me healthy. 59 year old, F. May 9, 2013. E01282, H & Z Acupuncture. hz-acupuncture.com ...

Heel spur, hip and shoulder pain, tennis elbow

I began treatment with Dr. He several years ago after living with increasingly intense pain for about a decade. I had recently seen an orthopedic for heel pain and was diagnosed with a bone spur. I tried everything the orthopedic recommended except surgery. The pain did not improve. I decided to give acupuncture a try. At my first appointment with Dr. He, I gave him my list of issues (the heel spur, hip and shoulder pain, tennis elbow). Dr. He explained that acupuncture is not a “quick fix” and that sometimes several series of treatments might be required. I appreciated his honesty and decided to go forward with treatment—usually a combination of acupuncture and acupressure. The elbow pain was the first improvement I noticed—the pain went away and has never returned. The heel spur, hip and shoulder pain took longer but improved gradually and I am virtually pain free today. I have been undergoing “whole body balance” treatments with Dr. He for just over three years and have experienced a much improved sense of well-being and higher level of energy. Dr. He is professional and very knowledgeable and educated in the field of acupuncture. I feel very fortunate that my introduction to acupuncture was with him. 54 year old, F. June 4, 2013. Prostatitis, pain in eyes, dizziness, trouble concentrating, palinopsia, visual static, irregular astigmatism, and piriformis syndrome

I began treatment from Dr. He over a year ago for symptoms that plagued me for several years.  My symptoms included pain from prostatitis, pain in my eyes, dizziness, trouble concentrating, palinopsia, visual static, irregular astigmatism, and piriformis syndrome.  The pain has improved a great deal, with the piriformis syndrome healing entirely.  My neurological symptoms have faded a great deal, as have some of my visual symptoms.  Dr. He’s treatment has been a very valuable experience. 33 year old, M.August 21, 2013. Migraines

I had my first migraine headache in 1988.  At first my headaches occurred only several times a year, but in 2010, I began having migraines more frequently, up to three or four times a week, despite taking medication to prevent them.  At that time, I consulted Dr. He at H and Z Acupuncture, as I had read that acupuncture could be beneficial with this type of headache.  Gradually, with acupuncture treatment, the frequency of my headaches decreased, and now I have, on the average, only one migraine every six months.  I definitely believe that the acupuncture has made a tremendous difference in the frequency and severity of of my migraine headaches.  I have a much better quality of life because of acupuncture treatment, and I no longer have to take medication to control my headaches. 62 year old, F.
