Acupuncture Does a Body Good
I was in a lot of pain and could barely stand on one leg when a woman in my gym recommended acupuncture with Dr. He. I was desperate and would try anything. I had done acupuncture years before for minor injuries but not with dedication. Maybe the results werent fast enough. For my first appointment with Dr. He I had a list of all the activities I did during the week; at nearly 52 years old I felt rather accomplished with my lifelong physical fitness regime. When I told him I could barely stand on one leg, he stared blankly into my eyes. “Why do you want to do that?” he inquired. “Yoga!” I boasted. He paused, and proceeded to lecture me on the virtues of finding the window. “You are not 20. You must find the window of activity that is balanced for your age. You can fight Mother Nature, but she will always win.” As Dr. He prescribed I went for acupuncture two times per week for 10 weeks. Some days during that time I was not in the mood to be stuck with all those needles. Some days, some needles stung like a bee sting – thats when the needles are affecting a specific area. As my mobility increased, he encouraged me to find the window of activity that was “healthy” for my body. In the meantime, I (and my husband) noticed another benefit of acupuncture – I began sleeping much of the night. A chronic insomniac since 1986 I rarely slept 5-6 hours. Of course I tried over the counter and prescription sleep aids, but after a while the effects of those drugs wear off. Dr. He explained how those drugs only give you a false sense of sleep and your body is deprived of the beneficial REM sleep. “Sleep is the best medicine,” he would say. Dr. He also had a cure for my husbands snoring. No, my husband is not brave enough for acupuncture – he sleeps fine! Dr. He suggested I get military strength noise reduction headphones to block out the snoring sounds. At home I can just go to another bedroom, but when we travel, and we travel a lot for business, Im stuck in one room with him. The noise reduction headphones are a brilliant solution to block my husbands snoring, and the first thing that goes in my suitcase. One ...

My Acupuncture Experience
At age 19 an orthopedic specialist diagnosed me with degenerative disks in my lower back. He told me that my condition was irreparable and would worsen over time. He said to me, “I have never seen so much degeneration in the spine of a 19 year old.” When I was in pain, I went to see him and he treated me with steroids. Even with the medications I was always in pain. By age 27 the steroids no longer helped my pain at all and he told me the next step for treatment was to get epidural injections in my spine. The idea of starting injections at such a young age frightened me and motivated me to seek alternative forms of treatment for my condition. Luckily I stumbled upon acupuncture. My first visit for acupuncture could not have been more different from my first visit to the orthopedist. After informing my acupuncture doctor of my medical condition, he told me, “We can help your pain. Come here and you will feel good. No other doctor had ever told me I could live a life without pain. I didn’t believe him but I wanted to, so I made 10 appointments not really thinking it would do any good. I was wrong. My back started to get better; it was better than ever with no steroids and no injections. One year later I felt better than I thought possible, but nothing could have prepared me for what happened next. I continued my acupuncture treatments. In addition to treating my back pain, my acupuncture doctor treated me for what he called my “whole body balance”. Over time I felt myself gaining a new sense of connection within my body and a new awareness within my mind, and I realized that I had been living my entire life up to that point as an unhappy person and I never even knew. I thought it was normal to dread the sound of the alarm clock every morning and drag myself, almost against my will, through each school/ work day. The only time I could ever say with certainty that I was happy was when I was on vacation. I was unhappy living day to day in my real life, and this was, and always had been, my deepest problem. Though it took me quite a while to identify my unhappiness, my acupuncture doctor recognized it almost ...

Low Back Pain & Sciatic
Having heard of Acupuncture but being new to the practice of Acupuncture, the technique has opened my eyes and body to what this Ancient Healing Technique is about. In just a few treatments, so far, I have diminished a frightful pain and discomfort that has plagued me for two years. It is not so much the continuing diminishing of the pain but a general sense of well being, happiness with hope that has surfaced since experiencing the different techniques that an Acupuncture office performs, such as H & Z Acupuncture does, to help me as well as their other patients. I am very happy that my friend co-worker referred me and I would refer anyone to them that is interested in Acupuncture as a therapy. 58 year old, M. April 10, 2013. Spinal Stenosis and Sciatica
After my recent sessions at H&Z Acupuncture, I strongly recommend it to anyone in need of relief from pain. I am now able to be more active and sleep well. I have undergone a number of procedures for my spinal stenosis and sciatica problems, but acupuncture has been my most successful treatment. Before acupuncture, I was not able to be very mobile and was in constant pain. After four sessions, I am most nearly pain free. 71 year old, F. April 10, 2013. Whole Body Health
I began treatment with Drs. He and Zhong in the spring of 2009. All I wanted was relief from lower back pain. I began to get that with my first treatment. Fortunately, their treatment philosophy and methods aimed at total or Wholistic care. They treated my immediate pain, but offered to improve my overall physical health by balancing my attitude and understanding of how my body functions, nutritional needs, and my daily routine to fit and slow down my aging process. They also encouraged me to utilize other healthy, balancing and strengthening exercises such as Tai Chi and Qi Gong. I discovered as they reduced pain in one area of my body the pain and imbalance showed up in other areas. Treatment became a gradual process of opening up the tense, blocked areas of my body and inaccurate beliefs to release the energy of my body and let it flow more easily and freely. Of course, I did not always follow their advice or did too much or too little of something and recreated pain and tension in areas already treated and improved. However increased levels of comfort and movement have occurred. I am on a maintenance routine of treatment now of twice a month, going more frequently when some pain occurs. I have a more realistic and acceptable attitude toward my body and aging. I am presently 76 years old, but feel years younger. 76 year old, M. April 10, 2013.
