Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Our 11 year old daughter fractured her knee in late December and we assumed everything would be fine when she removed her cast.Towards the end of her time with her cast she started to experience significant pain in and around her knee ankle. When the cast was removed the doctor diagnosed her with Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). After doing some research we started to panic and worry that our daughter would always be in pain. She started physical therapy and began to see some progress, but suddenly, towards the end of her treatments she was again in unbearable pain. We went back to the doctor and he prescribed some medication and suggested we meet with a pain specialist. We were wary of treating her injury with painkillers and very much wanted to try an alternative route.

We had read that acupuncture might work with CRPS and our daughter was eager to try anything. She has had 4 treatments and we have seen a tremendous difference. She was unable to walk without crutches during our first visit and shortly after the first visit she began limping. Within four weeks she had improved to the point where she could run, jump, and take part in all physical activities. Dr. Zhong helped her understand how to manage her pain and she now feels like she can easily deal with it when it resurfaces. The acupuncture was a huge help in reducing the pain and swelling in her knee and ankle and we loved that acupuncture also helped her manage her anxiety about her pain. We loved H and Zs more wholistic approach to medicine. We wanted so much to avoid treating her pain symptoms with painkillers and we are absolutely thrilled that we found H and Z Acupuncture. We highly recommend this practice. It was a godsend to our daughter.
